When you join our team,

you’re joining a legacy.

Since 1977, Gastineau Log Homes has been at the forefront of the log home industry, bringing custom log home dreams to life as the world’s largest Oak log home manufacturer. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales to lead our sales team, drive revenue growth, and expand our market presence. In this role, you’ll be able to shape and execute strategies that fulfill client aspirations and contribute to the legacy of a family-owned company that values quality, craftsmanship, and customer relationships.

The Mill Operations Specialist plays a vital role in bringing Gastineau homes to life, working hands-on in our mill to transform raw logs into precision-crafted components for custom log homes, hybrid homes, barndominiums, cabins, and pavilions. This role is ideal for dependable, detail-oriented professionals with experience in a lumber yard or production environment who take pride in hard work, professionalism, and craftsmanship. Responsibilities may include milling, log handling and stacking, forklift operation, welding, and supporting overall mill operations. Versatility, timeliness, and a commitment to quality are essential, as every piece produced contributes directly to the legacy and care behind a Gastineau home.

What You'll Do

  • Mill and process logs and timber components used in custom log homes, hybrid homes, barndominiums, cabins, and pavilions

  • Operate and maintain milling equipment to ensure accuracy, safety, and production quality

  • Handle, stack, and organize logs and lumber throughout the yard and mill workflow

  • Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed

  • Perform basic welding, fabrication, or repairs to support mill and equipment operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment

  • Collaborate with mill and production teams to meet build schedules and quality standards

  • Uphold Gastineau’s commitment to craftsmanship, professionalism, and timely execution

What Success Looks Like

Success as a Mill Operations Specialist means producing consistently accurate, high-quality milled materials that meet Gastineau’s standards for craftsmanship and precision. You contribute to smooth, on-time production by working efficiently, safely, and dependably within the mill and lumber yard. You collaborate well with mill leadership and production teams, communicate clearly, and adapt as project needs evolve. Over time, you expand your technical capabilities across milling, equipment operation, material handling, and fabrication, becoming a trusted, versatile contributor whose work directly supports the successful construction of every Gastineau home.

Learning and Development

This role includes hands-on mentorship from experienced mill and production leaders who understand the full lifecycle of crafting log and hybrid homes. You will build confidence, technical skill, and operational knowledge through daily practice and guided learning. As your experience grows, so does your ability to take on greater responsibility, refine your craftsmanship, and strengthen a long-term career in a trade

Why You'll Love Working Here

As a Mill Operations Specialist, you will work directly with experienced professionals who understand the art and precision behind building exceptional log and hybrid homes. You will develop practical, in-demand skills through real-world mill operations while contributing to homes that families will live in for generations. The team values reliability, quality, and steady progress, with clear expectations and a culture that respects focused, meaningful work.
