Our four distinctive corner systems
At Gastineau, we offer a variety of options for your log cabin home, including these four different corner styles:
Butt and Pass
The Butt and Pass corner is our “standard” log home corner styles. This overlapping corner creates “spaces” between the rows for the authentic log home appearance. The log joints will align horizontally at corners.
The Saddle Notch corner provides logs that are cut at the mill to interlock together. The log joints will align horizontally at corners.
True Dovetail corners are cut at the mill to interlock together, similar to some custom furniture, providing a craftsman style appearance and fit. This log home corner styles requires an 8” X 8” log and can be made with logs in any profile. Dovetailed corners require adjacent walls to have the log joints staggered. To do this, one wall begins with a half log while the other begins with a full log. The log joints on adjacent walls will be staggered.
The Pre-Notched corner is an option that is helpful when buyers choose a round interior profile. The notch into the round surface makes construction faster and easier.
